Colorado Springs loses to UNC March 13 2010 :: Score UNC 41(34) v 22(8) Colorado Springs

The Grizzlies traveled to Greeley Saturday to take on the UNC Bears in the only warm-up match of the season before league play starts this Saturday.  The team was a mix of veterans and rookies/inexperienced players.  The game was fairly disjointed in the first 20 minutes as each team attempted to build something and were often left hanging by simple errors.  The Grizzlies looked to be threatening on a few occasions but mistakes were punished harshly as UNC was very adept at turning errors into points.  There were several occasions when the Grizzlies were well into UNC's half of the field and were unable to capitalize.

In the second half the Grizzlies were able to string a few phases together and force UNC into penalties which were taken advantage of.  The Grizzlies created two really nice tries in the second half showing the ability to be patient and work the slow ball.  At the end of the day there were some real positives as well as areas for work over the next week for the Grizzlies.

Rookie Daniel Simienov was the man of the match as the 17yr old tackled like a pro and may have earned himself a position on the wing (waiver pending).  Mike Kenyon slotted several kicks which went a long way to getting the Grizzlies on the front foot.  Eric Wester played well from openside flanker and Frank Griffin ran well with ball when given the chance.
