Spring is here and kids are ready to run. Last year we had two successful rugby seasons in the spring and fall. We are ready to start the 3rd season and hope to have even more players this year. We are planning to start May 3rd and practice/play on Mondays and Wednesdays for 6 weeks. Practice will start 5:30 pm and we will practice for 45 mins and then play for 45 mins (maybe shorter for the younger ones). We are looking for boys and girls 5 to 12 years old. For kids 5-8 it will be touch rugby and for the rest it is tackle rugby. Our goal is to get as much kids exposed to the game of rugby. Younger kids are learning to run with the ball and how to pass. Older kids we will teach not only the basics of the game but also how to tackle and how to take a tackle. The kids really enjoy the nonstop action of the game and the fact that ALL of them will have an opportunity to run with the ball. With rugby now being an Olympic game there are more chances for kids to take rugby to the next level. The Colorado Springs high school team is doing really well and some kids are participating in exchange programs with schools in some of the bigger rugby playing countries like New Zeeland, South Africa and England. We are trying to get an early count of how many kids are interested in joining us for the 6 weeks program. We have a few fields we are looking at, but need to know how many kids will join to see if we need a bigger field than last year. The field will be north of Woodmen. The price will be $35 dollars for the 6 weeks and will include a t-shirt. Please forward this to any of your friends that might be interested to join us.
